Individualized Education Program is developed to ensure that a child with an identified disability who is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives specialized instruction and related services. An IEP provides relevant information about the child’s present academic levels and set goals for the next 6 months to a year. These goals may be include academic content areas such as language, numeracy and other subjects if required. Apart from academics, there may be goals for physical and motor development, socio-emotional skills and behaviour.
