Group Therapy / Play Therapy

Group Therapy is an established psychotherapeutic modality that aims to support children in enhancing their interaction skills with others where they learn how to participate with others, how to show them respect, how to be responsible, how to accept oneself and others and expressing emotions in a healthy manner. It helps to increase creativity and reduce aggression.  Through various activities, this association amongst peers has shown to improve behaviour and skills in interaction.

How is Group Therapy beneficial?

  • Improved experience.
  • Build new relationships.
  • Encouragement from peers.
  • Build social confidence.
  • Learning new things.
  • Improved problem-solving abilities.
  • Improvement in coping skills.

Why should my child be in group therapy?

Children are all unique in their own way. While some children have no trouble playing, sharing or communicating effectively with others, children with developmental delays and those with special needs have a difficult time maintaining the social skills that are generally required. A group therapy setting, is providing these children with an opportunity to learn alongside the company of others so that they are able to interact and learn how to do it more effectively.

Grouping children together for therapy sessions is beneficial for their progress, their morale, and their development
