As adults, many of us have varied range of deep-seated issues that we have not addressed, because they were rooted and planted in our childhood and we carry those issues into our current adulthood. Similarly, children who are raised in abusive homes, or those who are emotionally imbalanced due to their environment or how they are treated, carry these issues with them as they grow up.
Our minds are really sensitive and takes in information from our surroundings like a sponge, and because of certain events or circumstances, our mind-set tends to change revolving around these issues and we end up becoming bitter, hateful and resentful.
The mental health of children is a serious issue that parents and teachers must realize early on, because without early intervention, these issues will be carried forth into adulthood which will lead to complications in their daily living.
Benefits of taking care of the child’s mental Health:
- Enhancement in self-care and self-confidence.
- Respect other individuals and a positive mind-set.
- Maintain healthy relationships.
- Embraces family values.
- Value other people and the environment around them.
If you look at the current state of the world, we can come to the understanding that a lot of issues stem from these mental health issues/conditions, and because children were not addressed during their teen or pre-teen years, their minds were molded according to these past and present conditions.
Children learn from their parents, teachers and friends which is why as a parent or a teacher, it is important to be a good role-model for them to emulate, otherwise children will start to emulate that which they see around them, such as in violent movies, aggressive music and other forms of addictive behavior.
